Why is a source of funds check needed?
All UK retail and online gambling operators are licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission. This means that we’re legally required to take measures that help ensure gambling remains fair and open, is not linked to crime, and does not lead to harm.
The process only takes a few minutes to complete, and we’ll do our best to help you through it. After completing the source of funds check, you’ll be able to continue enjoying all our products, services and bonuses.
What is a source of funds check and why are you checking?
To complete a source of funds check, you’ll simply send us one or two documents to prove your salary and/or other income proving that you can afford the money you are spending with us. As is the case with banks, after customers spend a certain amount with us, we’re obliged to check where their funds are coming from. We know that this might be an inconvenient request, but it’s in the interest of protecting our customers.
Why are you checking my source of funds now?
As is the case with banks, after customers spend a certain amount with us, we’re obliged to check where their funds are coming from. We know that this might be an inconvenient request, but it’s in the interest of protecting our customers.
What is Open Banking?
Open Banking is a UK service provided by TransUnion.
TransUnion is registered with, and regulated by, the FCA in order to act as an Account Information Service Provider. It’s completely safe and secure and is the most accurate way to set the right limits on your account. In addition, it is a registered Credit Reference Agency.
How does Open Banking work?
Instead of uploading a variety of documents to confirm your income, you click on the consent link, which is provided by Coral and valid for 5 days from the time it’s sent. Clicking the consent link gives TransUnion permission to access your bank account information, solely for the Coral income verification process.
This is one-time access. No data will be shared with any third party, ever, without your explicit consent, and usage of this service has no impact on your credit history.
Once you click on the consent link, TransUnion will provide you with full details of its Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

What kind of documents are needed if I decide to upload documents instead of using Open Banking?
Any documents that prove the origin of the money you use to bet with us will be sufficient. Examples include:
- Bank statements issued within the past 3 months
- Monthly payslips covering the most recent 3 months
- Proof of inheritance
- Proof of property sale
- An annual tax return
- Evidence of dividends or director remuneration
- Proof of a specific payment or reward you’ve received
How do I get my documents to you and how long do I have?
The easiest and most secure way to send us your documents is by using our document uploader when you login. If you don't have access to your account, you can email copies of the relevant documents to dkyb@coral.co.uk. Once we request source of funds documents, you’ll have a maximum of 28 days to send them to us.
What happens then?
We’ll review the documents and once we’ve confirmed that everything’s in order, you’ll be able to carry on as usual. However, please note that we might need to request further documents.
How will my information be used?
The information you provide goes to a specialist team, separate from the rest of the company, to ensure that all your information is treated in the strictest confidence, in line with Data Protection principles and our own Privacy Policy, which you can see here. We will not use your information for any purpose other than fulfilling our legal and regulatory obligations.
What happens if I don’t get the documents in on time?
If you don’t manage to send over the requested documents within the 28-day time limit, we’ll be forced to apply certain restrictions on your account, such as a monthly limit of £100.
