Horse Racing Rules

Aside from the following special betting rules, the general betting rules apply. The special rules will take precedence over the common rules nevertheless.

Acceptance of Bets: We accept bets on specified races staged under Jockey Club and National Hunt Rules in Great Britain. We also accept horse racing bets from selected tracks from across the world with the races that we are covering listed on our website.

1. Abandoned/Postponed Races or Meetings

Bets will be void if:

• The race is abandoned.
• The race is declared void.
• The final declarations do not stand. 
• The race is moved to a different venue.
• The race distance is changed from the initially advertised race distance by over one furlong for a flat race or by over two furlongs for a race run under National Hunt rules (including National Hunt flat races).The horse is a non-runner.
• There are no finishers. In “Betting Without” markets, if the only finisher is the “Without” selection, bets on the other selections will be void. Unless advertised differently, Ante-Post bets will be declared void in the following circumstances:

• The race is abandoned and does not take place at a later date at the same venue.
• The race is declared void.
• The race is moved to a different venue.
• The race distance is changed from the initially advertised race distance by over one furlong for a flat race or by over two furlongs for a race run under National Hunt rules (including National Hunt flat races).
• The selection is balloted out.
• The selection was ineligible for the race at the time the bet was placed. For example, if after all entry stages have been closed, a bet has been placed on a runner who is not in the list of entries, the bet will be considered void.
• It is not possible for the selection to win at the time the bet was placed. For example, the horse died.
• The Ante-Post bet is offered with a run - a specific ante-post bet where stakes are not lost on the non-running horse.

2. Races Rerun Or Restarted Later On The Same Day

• If, having started, a race is stopped and not rerun on the same day then all bets placed on that race after the final declarations were made will be void. 
• If, having started, a race is stopped and is rerun later on the same day over the full distance from the initial starting point then all bets on the race stand provided an official result is declared. Horses which came under starter's orders in the original race but do not take part in the rescheduled race will be treated as non-runners and returns on the remaining runners will be subject to Rule 4 Deductions. 
• If at the discretion of the Racecourse Stewards, a race is restarted from any point of the Stewards' choosing other than from the initial starting point, then all bets on the race stand provided an official result is declared. Any bet on a horse that does not participate in the restarted race but which did participate in the initial race will be deemed a loser.

In the case of the Aintree Grand National:

• If, having started, the Aintree Grand National is stopped and not rerun with the same set of final declarations then all bets placed on that race after the final declarations were made will be void.
• If, having started, the Aintree Grand National is stopped and is rerun later in the same day or on a later day with the same set of final declarations over the full distance from the initial starting point then all bets on the race stand provided an official result is declared. Horses which came under starter's orders in the original race but do not take part in the rescheduled race will be treated as non-runners and returns on the remaining runners will be subject to Rule 4 Deductions.
• If at the discretion of the Racecourse Stewards, the Aintree Grand National is restarted from any point of the Stewards' choosing other than from the initial starting point, then all bets on the race stand provided the final declarations stand and an official result is declared. Any bet on a horse that does not participate in the restarted race but which did participate in the initial race will be deemed a loser.

3. Postponed Race(s)/Meetings - Race(s) Run Another Day

a.) ALL ANTE-POST BETS PLACED BEFORE FINAL DECLARATION STAGE:

Bets will be void if:

• The race is abandoned and does not take place at a later date at the same venue.
• The race is declared void.
• The race is moved to a different venue.  
• The race distance is changed from the initially advertised race distance by over one furlong for a flat race or by over two furlongs for a race run under National Hunt rules (including National Hunt flat races).
• The selection is balloted out. 
• The selection was ineligible for the race at the time the bet was placed. For example, if after all entry stages had closed, a bet has been placed on a runner who was not in the list of entries then the bet will be considered void.
• It was not possible for the selection to win at the time the bet was placed. For example, if the horse had died. 
• The Ante-Post bet is offered "with a run" - a specific ante-post bet where stakes are not lost on the non-running horse.
• Otherwise all Ante-Post bets will stand for the race's new date.

b.) ALL BETS PLACED AFTER FINAL DECLARATION STAGE: 

If meetings or races are moved to a different day (using the local time to the venue) then all bets placed after the final declarations are void.

The exception to the above is the Grand National (Aintree). Bets accepted after 10am on the day the final declarations are made will stand until that race is run, so long as the overnight declarations and race venue remain unchanged.

4. Unnamed Favourite

If the favourite is withdrawn and no new market is formed, bets placed on the Unnamed Favourite will be void; the same applies for the unnamed second favourite, where the second favourite is withdrawn and no new market is formed, bets placed on the unnamed second favourite will be void.

a.) In any race favourites will be qualified as follows:

• The favourite is the horse quoted in the official SP return at the shortest odds;
• The second favourite is the horse quoted at the next shortest odd, etc.
• If two horses are quoted at the same odds and if these odds are shorter than those quoted against any other horse then these two horses are the joint first and second favourites.

b.) By using the term "favourite" or "second favourite" to indicate your selection, your stake will be invested on the horse as defined in this section.

c.) If two or more "favourite" horses are selected the stake will be divided and invested equally amongst each of the selected horses. However, if these joint favourites are returned at a price whereby, irrespective of result, no profit could accrue to a backer of the favourite, then the unnamed favourite will be regarded as a non-runner.

d.) SP bets for unnamed favourites or second unnamed favourites are acceptable Win Only. If each way is taken in error, the bet will be settled as a winner.

e.) For settlement purposes, Dead Heat rules apply when an unnamed favourite returns joint or co-favourites. For example: Horse No.1 and Horse No.2 are both 9/2 before the race. Horse No.2 wins the race. Unnamed favourite is a Dead Heat winner of Two. Unnamed second favourite is a Dead Heat winner of Two.

5. Early Price Betting

An Early Price bet is defined as a bet placed with a price taken after the final declarations for the race have been made and before the first live traded or racecourse show offered is displayed.

a.) Early Price bets are accepted on the following basis:

• If the selection does not run, stakes will be returned, which can also be referred to as "Non-Runner Money Back";
• In the event of non-runners, stakes are liable to Rule 4 Deductions (see Rule 4 Deduction table);
• If a bet is placed after the final declarations but the race is postponed to another day then all bets will be void.

6. Board Price Betting

A Board Price bet confirms the odds immediately before the start of the race and is generated via the live traded show or from the racecourse where the race is run as offered.

a.) Board Price bets are accepted on the following basis:

• We may decide to adjust the bets to the official price if there is an official correction to a displayed board price. This requirement for change may be the result of the original price being incorrect due to invalid information at the time you placed your bet;
• Board prices are accepted on the basis of "Non-Runner Money Back" and are liable to a Rule 4 Deduction in the event of any non-runners (see Rule 4 Deduction table).

7. Starting Price (SP) Betting

If you do not confirm that you want the available price at the time of bet placement, the bet will be settled at the Starting Price (SP). SP bets apply to the official SP from the racecourse where the race is run.

a.) SP bets are accepted on the following basis:

• All SP bets are accepted on the basis of "Non-Runner Money Back";
• A Rule 4 Deduction will only apply to a SP bet where a horse is withdrawn prior to the start of a race and a new betting market is not formed prior to the start of the race.

8. Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG)

Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) is available on all UK and Irish horse and greyhound races and will be offered as displayed on the website to online UK and Irish horse races bets only from 8am on the day of the event, unless otherwise stated.

a.) Where BOG is offered bets will be settled at the Starting Price (SP) if the SP is bigger than the price originally taken. For example: Early/Board Price is taken at 4/1 and SP is 5/1, we will pay out at the bigger price. In the event of a Rule 4 applying to a price taken, we will pay at the bigger odds after the Rule 4 deduction has been made. Bets placed after the start of the race do not qualify.

b.) BOG does not apply to Ante-Post, Tote/Pools, Pari-Mutuel, Enhanced Price, Betting Without, Place Only (Top 2/3/4 Finish), Top Finish (Top 2/3 Finish), To Finish 2nd/3rd Bets, Match Bets, Faller Insurance, Money Back x Places, Win Only Markets or Enhanced Placed markets which are separate to the main ‘Win or E/W’ Market. Bets placed in shops do not qualify unless stated otherwise.

We reserve the right to withdraw this guarantee at any time and to withdraw the BOG offer from a customer account at any time.

c.) Bets placed after the off do not qualify for this offer. Bets placed in-running will not apply. In the event of a Rule 4, we pay you at the bigger odds, after the Rule 4 deduction has been applied.

d.) The maximum benefit for BOG is capped at £50,000 per customer per day across all applicable channels.

9. Standard Each Way Terms

Unless stated otherwise each way bets are settled at SP terms, these are as follows:

a.) Non-Handicap Races

If there are 2-4 runners then it's Win Only;

If there are 5-7 runners then it's 1/4th the odds a place for horses placed first and second;

If there are more than 8 runners then it's 1/5th the odds a place for horses placed first, second and third.

b.) Handicap Races

If there are 2-4 runners then it's Win Only;

If there are 5-7 runners then it's 1/4th the odds a place for horses placed first and second;

If there are 8-11 runners then it's 1/5th the odds a place for horses placed first, second and third;

If there are 12-15 runners then it's 1/4th the odds a place for horses placed first, second and third;

If there are 16 or more runners then bets will be settled at 1/4th the odds a place for horses placed first, second, third or fourth.

c.) Additional Rules

If bets are placed after the final declarations the applicable place terms are determined by the number of actual runners, rather than the number of declared runners;

For all Ante-Post bets the place terms offered at the time the bet was placed will stand regardless of the number of runners.

10. Withdrawals/Non-Runners (Rule 4 Deductions)

If a horse comes under Starter's Orders but refuses to race, the bet will be a loser. In all horse races where a runner is adjudged not to have started (therefore declared as a Non-Runner), stakes on that selection will be refunded, except with Ante-Post bets.

Bets on the remaining runners in that race, taken at Early Prices or at Show Prices prior to withdrawal, will be subject to a deduction. This is based on Rule 4 and is dependent on the Non-Runner's price at the time of bet placement. In reformed markets, the total deduction on the two or more horses (one in the original market and one in the reformed market) will be calculated on the prices applicable in the original market. Bets on horses in subsequent markets that then have one or more withdrawn horses will have a deduction calculated on the prices applicable to that market at the time the bet was placed.

In the event that there is insufficient time to form a new market on the race, SP bets may also be subject to a deduction based on Rule 4. For bets at Early Prices, the application of Rule 4 will be determined by the price available at the time of bet placement for the horse that is withdrawn. Rule 4 deductions are made to the money or winnings you receive back when the horse you've backed wins or places. These deductions are only made when one or more horses are withdrawn from the race after you've placed your bet.

Rule 4 Deductions can be made from the SP when a horse is withdrawn and there’s no time to create a new market - thus making it easier for the other runners to win. An amount of money is taken out of winnings to balance the effect of the withdrawn runner. If bookmakers didn't make Rule 4 deductions then, in some cases, customers would be able to back all the horses in one race and make money whichever horse won.

If a horse is withdrawn before coming under Starters Orders, bets will be settled using the Rule 4 Deduction scale. The scale adjusts prices to reflect the absence from the book of any non-runner. The following deductions are made per pound won and relate to the price of the withdrawn horse at the time a customer places their bet. If two or more horses are withdrawn before coming under Starter's Orders, then the total deduction will be the sum of the individual deductions, up to a maximum of 90p per pound won.

When there is a non-runner, Rule 4 may apply. See the table below for more information.

In the event of there being two or more withdrawals in a race, the total deduction shall not exceed 90p in the £1.

Multiple Bets

If you've placed a multiple bet such as a double, treble or Lucky 15, your bet will stand on the remaining selections. A double becomes a single, a treble becomes a double, and so on.

Forecast

If you have a non-runner in a forecast bet, your bet is settled as a single at SP on the remaining selection.

Tricast

If you have a non-runner in a tricast bet, your bet is settled as a forecast on the remaining selections in the order they were selected.

11. Double Result (First Past The Post)

UK and Irish horse races are settled on a double result basis.

a.) This means that we will pay out on both:  

• First Past the Post: The immediate result after the race has been completed (see Exceptions below) 
• Official Result: Announced at the "weigh-in" on the day, after any Steward's Enquiries and/or objections have been considered. If a winner is disqualified after the official result is announced, the disqualification will not affect the settlement of bets.

b.) The double results concession will generally apply to all Win and Each Way single and multiple bets (Win Only, Place Only and Each Way Markets) at UK and Irish race courses. However, only the official "weighed in" result on the day will apply in the following circumstances:

• to ante-post bets;  
• to forecast and tricast bets;  
• Aintree Grand National;  
• to selections which have taken the wrong course;
• in races where an incorrect first past the post result has been announced in error by the judge;  
• to selections carrying the wrong weight;
• to selections whose jockey failed to weigh in 
• a void race 
• a bet placed on a two-runner race or a special match bet 
• any Tote or Pari-Mutuel bets;  
• markets were on the winning favourites and distance betting;  
• in betting without the favourites markets or any other special market. 
• any bet placed at the rails on a racecourse  

c.) The double results concession applies to the day of race Win Only and Each Way markets.  It does not apply to daily challenge bets, which include jockey challenges, tipster challenges, meeting challenges, match bets, aggregate winning distance and winning distance specials. In the event of a double result, unless otherwise stated, all daily challenge bets will be settled according to only the official result on the day of the race, with the exception of aggregate winning distance bets and winning distance special bets which will be settled as per the distance betting rules. 

d.) Where a result is amended after the official result (i.e. the weigh-in), for example as a result of a successful appeal, the amendment will be ignored for settlement purposes. 

e.) We pay Double Result on UK & Irish racing ONLY - Horse racing bets placed on non-UK/Irish meetings are settled on the official result declared by the racecourse judge and confirmed by the ‘Weighed-In’ announcement. If a winner is disqualified after the official result is announced, the disqualification will not affect the settlement of bets. 

f.) In the event of a double result, payout on the horse that was first past the post may be subject to a small delay while we process your winnings. The funds will be credited to your account as a manual adjustment.  

12. Doubly Engaged

A bet placed online, on a doubly engaged horse, will only stand if it runs in the race displayed on the website.

For bets placed via the telebetting service, if a specific race is requested then bets will stand on that race but bets will be void should the selection run in an alternative event. Should a specific race not be requested then when the bet is confirmed by the operator for a particular race the onus is on the customer to query the race otherwise the bet will stand for the race given.

13. Reserves

If reserves are contained within the final declaration stage for a race, then we will offer an early price for all the declared runners, including the reserves.

If a declared runner is announced as a non-runner, then we will revise the market. All bets placed prior to this announcement will then be subject to a Rule 4 deduction, so long as the price of the non-runner means that a Rule 4 deduction should apply. This Rule 4 deduction will be applied to all bets placed prior to the non-runner being announced, even if the non-runner was one of the reserves.

14. International Racing

We accept bets on horse racing from around the world in accordance with the following rules:

a) Early Prices: Where Early Prices are offered on international horse racing then unless otherwise stated, standard place terms will apply and in the event of any non-runners a ‘Rule 4’ deduction may apply. 

• Bets on unnamed favourites are accepted.
• Straight Forecast (SFC) in operation.
• Tricast dividends will be returned in all handicap races with eight or more declared runners and for selected high profile non-handicap races where advertised. 
• Double Result does not apply.
• Standard Place terms apply
• In the event of any non-runners a ‘Rule 4’ deduction may apply.

c) Pari-Mutuel (PMU)/Tote Betting: On selected international racing bets are accepted in accordance with local PMU/Tote rules where advertised by us. 

• All bets will be settled as per local rules, including in the event of the coupling of horses.
• Double Result does not apply. 

Match Betting

Where we have selected Match Bets between two horses, in the same race, then the following conditions apply:

• A Match Bet is based on one selection beating another according to the specific conditions advertised. Dead Heat rules apply unless a tie price is made available (e.g. for a handicap Match Bet).
• One of the two selections in any match bet must complete the course for the bets to stand; otherwise bets are void.
• Both selections must start for bets to stand, otherwise Match Bets are void.
• Singles and upwards.

15. Aggregate Winning Distance Betting

A prediction on the total winning margins (distance between first and second placed horses) of each race at a particular meeting.

For example, Newmarket aggregate winning distances is the sum of the distances between the first and second horses in all races from Newmarket on that day.

Six races won by 3 lengths, 1 length, ½ length, 6 lengths, 2 lengths and 1 length would equal a total of 13½ lengths.

This market will be displayed in three bands. For example, Newmarket Aggregate winning distances: Under X lengths 13/8, Between X and Y lengths 6/4, Over Y lengths 15/8

For races won by less than a length, the following is awarded: Dead Heat = 0 lengths, Nose = 0.05 lengths, Short Head = 0.1 lengths, Head = 0.2 lengths, Neck = 0.3 lengths, ½ length = 0.5 lengths, ¾ length = 0.75 lengths

a.) The maximum winning distance for a National Hunt race is 30 lengths (including National Hunt Flat races). The maximum winning distance for a flat race is 12 lengths. In the event that only one horse finishes the course, the maximum distance for the race type is awarded. In the event of a walkover, the distance will be five lengths for a flat race and 12 lengths for a National Hunt race (including National Hunt Flat races).

b.) If a meeting has one or two races abandoned or declared void, then bets will be settled with a default distance used for each abandoned or void race: two lengths for a flat race and six lengths for a National Hunt race (including National Hunt Flat races). If a meeting has three or more races abandoned or declared void, then all bets will be void unless the winning over bands for the market has already been established, in which case all bets will stand.

c.) Any runner subsequently disqualified for taking the wrong course or carrying an incorrect weight will be ignored when the winning distance is calculated. The winning distance in such a race will be settled on the officially declared distance between the first two horses past the post that have followed the correct course and carried the correct weight. This only includes races on the regular card, it does not include charity races or any other race not run under the Rules of Racing.

16. Winning Distance Specials

In this market we nominate a horse to win a specified race and you have the opportunity to bet on whether or not this horse will win the race by over or under a specified number of lengths. The following rules will apply:

• All bets will be losers unless the nominated horse wins the race. However if the nominated horse is a non-runner then all bets will be void, unless it was an Ante-Post bet on an all-in run or not basis;
• If there are other non-runners in the race, then a Rule 4 deduction may be applied to the prices for both winning over and under the specified number of lengths;
• All bets will be settled on a First Past The Post basis. However, if one of the first two horses to finish has taken the wrong course or is carrying the incorrect weight, then the winner will be deemed to be the first horse past the post who has taken the correct course. The winning distance will then be taken from the first horse to legitimately complete the course back to the second horse to legitimately complete the course;
• Dead Heat rules apply. If the nominated horse dead-heats with another runner then bets on the nominated horse to win under the specified distance will be settled as winners at half the initial stake.

Winning Horse and Distance: Predict both the winning horse and the winning distance from the runners and distances listed (distances offered may change depending on the race).

In the event of any non-runners, a Rule 4 deduction may apply based on the price of the non-runner at the time of bet placement. Singles only, Dead Heat rules apply.

17. Win By X Lengths

In this market we nominate a horse to win a specified race and you can bet on whether or not it will win the race by at least the specified number of lengths. Typically, these will be 1 or more lengths for flat races and 3 or more lengths for Jumps races (including National Hunt Flat races):

The following rules will apply:

• All bets will be losers unless the nominated horse wins the race by the specified distance. However, if the nominated horse is deemed a non-runner then all bets will be void.
• If there are other non-runners in the race, then a Rule 4 deduction may apply based on the price of those selections in the win and each way market at time of bet placement.
• All bets will be settled on a ‘First Past The Post’ basis. However, if one of the first two horses to finish is subsequently disqualified for taking the wrong course or weighing in with the incorrect weight, then the winner will be deemed to be the first horse past the post who has taken the correct course while carrying the correct weight and the winning distance will be taken from this horse back to the second horse to legitimately complete the course.

18. Forecasts

a.) Straight Forecast - Name two selections to come first and second in the correct order for a specified event.

b.) Reversed Forecast - Name two selections to finish first and second in any order for a specific event.

c.) Combination Forecast - Choose three or more selections in an event, with any of these to finish first and second in the race.

d.) All are available provided three or more entries run in the race, and are settled under Industry Forecast Dividend rules, except where stated:

e.) If Straight Forecast is accepted for a race where no dividend is declared, the bet will be settled as a winning single on the first selection.

f.) If you select a Non-Runner in a Forecast bet, the bet will be settled as a single at SP on the remaining selection. If you select a Non-Runner in a Combination Forecast, all bets featuring the non-runner will be settled as singles.

g.) You can bet Forecast singles and Forecast doubles and these can be placed as either Straight, Reversed, or Combination Forecast bets.

h.) In races where only one horse finishes, Forecast bets with the correct first place horse will be paid as an SP single on that selection. All other Forecast bets will be losers.

e.) Customers are not allowed to include 'unnamed favourite' in Forecast bets online.

19. Tricasts

A tricast is a bet where you name the selections to finish first, second and third in the correct order for a specified race. All tricast bets are settled with the appropriate industry dividend except where stated below.

a.) Horse Tricast bets are accepted on all Handicap, Nursery and Rated Stakes Handicap races where eight or more runners are declared and six or more actually run. Tricasts are also available on other advertised races outside of our full service.

b.) If a Tricast bet is accepted where less than six runners take part, it will be settled as a Straight Forecast on the selections nominated to finish first and second, with the selection nominated to finish in third ignored.

c.) If a Tricast has been accepted for a race where no dividend is declared, it will be settled as a Straight Forecast on the selections nominated to finish first and second. The third is ignored for settlement purposes. If the bet is a Combination Tricast, every Tricast within that Combination will be settled as a Straight Forecast with the third selection ignored for settlement purposes.

d.) If one non-runner is selected, the Tricast will be settled as a Straight Forecast on the remaining two selections.

e.) If two non-runners are selected in a Tricast, the bet will be settled as a single at SP on the remaining selection.

f.) In races where fewer than three horses finish, Tricast bets will be settled as follows:

• When only two horses finish, Tricast bets with the first and second in the correct order will be paid as Forecast winners. All other Tricast bets will be losers.
• When only one horse finishes, Tricast bets with the correct first place horse will be paid as an SP single on that selection. All other Tricast bets will be losers.

g.) Customers are not allowed to include 'unnamed favourite' in Tricast bets.

h.) If your selection becomes a non-runner: Single Bet

i.) If you have a non-runner, your bet is void and you receive your stake back. Please note, this does not apply if your bet was placed under Ante Post rules, in which case your bet will be settled as a loser.

20. Favourites Index

The 'Favourites Index' market relates to the aggregate performance of favourites over the course of a race meeting. The scoring system is as follows:

• Win = 25 points
• 2nd = 10 points
• 3rd = 5 points

In the case of joint or co-favourites, the favourite will be deemed to be the one with the lowest stall number. Should no Starting Price (SP) be returned, the favourite will be the runner with the lowest price as published in the Racing Post.

If there is a Dead Heat for any placing, the points for these runners will be added together and divided equally between the number of positions. All bets will be settled on the official result.

If the meeting has three or more races abandoned or declared void, then all bets will be void unless a winning market has already been established, in which case all bets stand.

When only one or two races are abandoned or declared void, bets will be settled with a default figure of 10 points applied to each abandoned or void race. In the event of a walkover, bets will be settled with a default figure of 10 points applied to that race.

If the favourite is withdrawn at the start of the race and no new market is formed, points will be awarded dependent on the price of the favourite at the time of withdrawal:

• Evens or less = 15 points
• 11/10 to 9/2 = 10 points
• 5/1 or bigger = 5 points

If the favourite starts but does not finish the course, no points are awarded.

21. Horse Racing Specials

a.) & b.) Top Jockey/Trainer/Owner & Top 'Festival/Meeting' Jockey/Trainer: Where there is a tie, governing body rules will be used to separate the selections. For example in Top Jockey, if two selections have an equal number of wins, the selection with the highest number of second place finishes will be the winner. Should they be tied again, it reverts to the number of third place finishes.

c.) Points Betting: We sometimes use a 'points system' for certain bets.

• Win - 5 points
• Second place - 3 points
• Third place - 1 point

d.) Jockey Specials: Bets are accepted on Jockey Specials markets on the understanding that a winning outcome is possible in the given market at the time the bet was confirmed. If a subsequent factor, event or change of circumstances means that a winning outcome is no longer possible, bets placed on jockey specials markets will have lost. The given rider must take part in at least one race at the meeting, otherwise all bets are void. Walkovers will not count towards the jockey's winners' total.

22. In Play Horse Racing Rules

• In Play betting is available on selected horse races only as advertised and indicated by the following symbol displayed on the race page, immediately above the current list of odds after the race has started 
• For the purposes of security and integrity In Play bets (i.e. those placed on races after the official ‘Off’) may be subject to an automated time delay prior to acceptance.
• Bets placed In Play are offered Win Only - no Each-Way betting option is available.
• Bets placed In Play are offered as Single bets only and cannot be combined with other selections.
• All In Play bets are accepted at the quoted odds - Starting Price (SP) bets are not available.
• Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) does not apply to bets placed In Play.
• Double-Result and Dead-Heat rules both apply to bets placed In Play in accordance with our Horse Racing rules.
• No derived markets or special bets will be available In Play and any bet placed after the existing grace periods will be made Void in accordance with our rules.
• In Play betting will close before the end of each race and there may be periods during the race where some or all selections are suspended and are unavailable for betting purposes (perhaps due to an event occurring during the race, such as a fall or refusal). By placing an In Play bet, customers accept that it may not be possible to place any further In Play bets on that race before the market is closed.
• ‘Cash Out’ is available (subject to ‘Cash Out’ rules) during races for bets placed In Play or prior to the race ‘Off’ for ‘Win’ bets only. ‘Cash Out’ is not available on any Each-Way bet. 
• We reserve the right to void an In Play bet on any applicable event that is not completed in full (i.e. race abandoned or postponed). 
• Where we have reason to believe that an In Play bet has been placed after the outcome of an event is known, we reserve the right to void the bet. 

23. Late Bets

All bets placed after the official 'off' time on non-In Play races will be declared void, with the following exception:

For horse races where In Play betting is not offered the following bet acceptance grace periods (in seconds) will apply.

When In Play betting is not offered on a race, we reserve the right to void any bet placed after the above grace periods.

24., 25. & 26. Named Jockey/Trainer Number of Winners At An Individual Meeting

a.) Bets are settled on the official result.

b.) First Past the Post, Charity and Arab Races do not count for bets placed on this market.

c.) If the named jockey/trainer does not have at least one ride at the meeting - bets void.

d.) If the named jockey/trainer rides in fewer races than originally intended - bets stand.

e.) If the named jockey/trainer finishes in a Dead Heat for first place, they will be awarded one win.

f.) If the named jockey/trainer rides in a walk-over, that race will not count towards this market.

g.) If one or two races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting - bets stand.

h.) If three or more races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting - bets are void unless a winning selection has been established in this market.

i.) If three or more races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting and a winning selection has been established in this market, bets placed on that selection will have already won and will be settled as winners.

j.) Only horses listed in the morning Racecard as being ridden by the named jockey count e.g. any additional 'spare' rides that the jockey might ride do not count.

27. How Many Winning Starting Price (SP) Favourites Will There Be

a.) In the event of co-favourites or joint favourites - lowest race card number will determine the favourite. When a favourite is involved in a Dead Heat for first, half a win is given.

b.) If any favourite is withdrawn and no market is reformed it will revert to the second favourite with the lowest race card number.

c.) If any races are abandoned bets will be settled as void unless the result of the bet has been established without them.

d.) First Past the Post, Charity and Arab Races do not count as bets placed on this market.

e.) Market available on individual meetings or a combination of several meetings.

f.) A walkover does not count as a winning favourite.

28. All Starting Price (SP) Favourites To Be Placed

a.) For settlement purposes in the event of co-favourites or joint favourites - lowest race card number will determine the favourite.

b.) If any favourite is withdrawn and no market is reformed it will revert to the second favourite with the lowest race card number.

c.) If a meeting is abandoned bets will be void, unless the specified number of favourites have already placed.

d.) SP Place terms apply.

e.) First Past the Post, Charity and Arab Races do not count as bets placed on this market.

f.) Market available on individual meetings or a combination of several meetings.

29. Individual Horse How Far Winning Distance Specials

For selected horses in specified races you can also bet on whether the horse will win by a specified number of lengths or Under, or Over that specified distance, as separate betting options.

The following rules will apply:

• All bets will be losers unless the nominated horse wins the race by the nominated distance. However, if the nominated horse is a non-runner then all bets will be void.
• If there are other non-runners in the race, then a Rule 4 deduction may apply based on the price of the non-runner(s) in the win and each way market at the time of bet acceptance.
• All bets will be settled on a ‘First Past The Post’ basis. However, if one of the first two horses to finish is subsequently disqualified for taking the wrong course or weighing in with the incorrect weight, then the winner will be deemed to be the first horse past the post who has taken the correct course while carrying the correct weight and the winning distance will be taken from this horse back to the second horse to legitimately complete the course.

30. Horse To Win Today & A Relevant Future Ante-Post Race

a.) The nominated horse must win both nominated races.

b.) Should the horse become a non-runner on the day of the race then bets revert to an Ante-Post single on the nominated Ante-Post race (Price at the time of bet placement).

c.) In the event of the horse becoming a non-runner in the Ante-Post event then bets are losers.

d.) Dead Heat rules apply. If the nominated horse Dead Heats with another runner then bets on the nominated horse to win will be settled as winners at half the initial stake.

e.) If on the day the race is abandoned/postponed then bets revert to an Ante-Post single on the nominated Ante-Post race (Price at the time of bet placement).

f.) In the event of the Ante-Post race being abandoned and not taking place bets revert to a day of race single on the nominated race (Price at the time of bet placement).

g.) In the event of the Ante-Post race being postponed and taking place at the same track at a later date then all Ante-Post bets will stand.

31. Total Winning Distances at a Nominated Meeting

a.) Bets are placed on the aggregate of the winning distances from one race meeting; if the winning distance is under one length the following numerical values will apply: Nose = 0.05, Short Head = 0.1, Head = 0.2, Quarter of a length = 0.25, Neck = 0.3, Half a length = 0.5 and Three quarters of a length = 0.75.

b.) The maximum distance for any one race is: 12 lengths (flat race), 30 lengths (National Hunt race including National Hunt flat race).

c.) In the event of a walkover the following distances will apply: 12 lengths (National Hunt races including National Hunt flat races), 5 lengths (flat races).

d.) If only one horse finishes in a race then the following distances will apply: 12 lengths (flat races), 30 lengths (National Hunt race including National Hunt flat race).

e.) All distance bets will be settled on the original distance recorded by the winner who was first past the post. However, if a horse has taken the wrong course it will be ignored for distance betting and the aggregate winning distance will then be calculated between the first two runners past the post who have taken the correct course.

f.) If a meeting has three or more races abandoned or declared void, then all bets will be void unless the winning over band for the market has already been established, in which case ALL bets will stand (win or lose).

h.) If only one or two races are abandoned or declared void, bets will be settled with a default distance used for each abandoned or void race - 6 lengths (National Hunt race including National Hunt flat race), 2 lengths (flat races)

32. Race To Have The Longest Winning Distance At The Meeting

a.) If the winning distance is under one length the following numerical values will apply: Nose = 0.05, Short-Head = 0.1, Head = 0.2, Quarter of a length = 0.25, Neck = 0.3, Half a length = 0.5 and three quarters of a length = 0.75.

b.) Bets are settled on the official result.

c.) The officially declared winning distance is calculated between the first two horses past the post that have completed the race having followed the correct course and carried the correct weight.

d.) In the event of only one horse finishing in a race then the following distances will apply:

• Flat race - 12 lengths
• National Hunt race (including National Hunt flat race) - 30 lengths

e.) If there is a tie for the race with the longest winning distance, the stake will be divided equally by the number of races involved in that tie.

f.) Charity races and Arab races do not count on this market.

g.) If a race is abandoned, declared void or is a walk-over, bets placed on that race in this market will be void and bets placed on other selections in this market may be subject to a Rule 4 deduction.

h.) If one or two races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting - bets will stand.

i.) If three or more races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting - bets are void.

33. Race To Have The Shortest Winning Distance At The Meeting

a.) If the winning distance is under one length the following numerical values will apply: Nose = 0.05, Short-Head = 0.1, Head = 0.2, Quarter of a length = 0.25, Neck = 0.3, Half a length = 0.5 and three quarters of a length = 0.75.

b.) Bets are settled on the official result.

c.) The officially declared winning distance is calculated between the first two horses past the post that have completed the race having followed the correct course and carried the correct weight.

d.) In the event of only one horse finishing in a race then the following distances will apply:

• Flat race - 12 lengths
• National Hunt race (including National Hunt flat race) - 30 lengths

e.) If there is a tie for the race with the shortest winning distance, the stake will be divided equally by the number of races involved in that tie.

f.) Charity races and Arab races do not count for this market.

g.) If a race is abandoned, declared void or is a walk-over, bets placed in this market will be void and bets placed on other selections in this market may be subject to a Rule 4 deduction.

h.) If one or two races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting - bets will stand.

i.) If three or more races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting - bets are void.

34. Every Race At A Meeting To Be Won By Over X Lengths

a.) If the winning distance is under one length the following numerical values will apply: Nose = 0.05, Short-Head = 0.1, Head = 0.2, Quarter of a length = 0.25, Neck = 0.3, Half a length = 0.5 and Three quarters of a length = 0.75.

b.) Bets are settled on the official result.

c.) The officially declared winning distance is calculated between the first two horses past the post that have completed the race having followed the correct course and carried the correct weight.

d.) In the event of only one horse finishing in a race then the following distances will apply:

• Flat race - 12 lengths
• National Hunt race (including National Hunt flat race) - 30 lengths

35. Will There Be A Race At Each Individual Meeting Where The Winning Distance Is A Dead Heat, Nose or Short-Head

a.) The following numerical values will apply: Dead Heat = 0, Nose = 0.05, Short-Head = 0.1, Head = 0.2, Quarter of a length = 0.25, Neck = 0.3, Half a length = 0.5 and Three quarters of a length = 0.75.

b.). Bets are settled on the official result.

c.) The officially declared winning distance is calculated between the first two horses past the post that have completed the race having followed the correct course and carried the correct weight.

d.) Charity races and Arab races do not count on this market.

e.) If a race is abandoned, declared void or is a subsequent walk-over, bets placed on this market will stand.

36. Will There Be A Race On The Day Where The Winning Distance Is A Dead Heat, Nose or Short Head

The following numerical values will apply: Dead Heat = 0, Nose = 0.05, Short-Head = 0.1, Head = 0.2, Quarter of a length = 0.25, Neck = 0.3, Half a length = 0.5 and Three quarters of a length = 0.75.

b.) Bets are settled on the official result.

c.) The officially declared winning distance is calculated between the first two horses past the post that have completed the race having followed the correct course and carried the correct weight.

d.) Charity races and Arab races do not count on this market.

e.) If a race is abandoned, declared void or is a subsequent walk-over, bets placed on this market will stand.

37. Horse Race Special Handicap Betting

We offer a Special Distance Handicap market in certain races. The idea of the handicap market is that each horse improves their finishing result in the actual race by the distance they have been allotted on the handicap.

The result of the handicap market is the finishing result once all of the individual horse handicaps have been added to the final result of the race. If a horse comes under starters orders but fails to finish the race for any reason, they will be a losing bet in this market.

If a horse is declared a non-runner prior to the race, Rule 4 may apply and the horse will simply be removed from calculations when working out the final result, with the other horses' distance handicaps unchanged.

Dead Heat rules apply. Result will be settled on the 'First Past The Post' result and subsequent amendments will not affect the result of this market, unless a horse has carried the wrong weight or taken the wrong course, then it will be deemed a loser in this market and ignored in the settlement of the result.

The winner of the handicap market is the horse with the lowest handicap score and in this example, Marie's Diamond was the winner of the market. (Note - Dead Heat rules apply on this market and there was a Dead Heat for third place in this example).

38. Meeting Aggregate Favourite's Points Based Performance

Predict the range that contains the aggregate number of points awarded for favourites at the specified meeting. Points are allocated for the finishing position of the favourite in each race using the following points system:

• First place - 25 points
• Second place - 10 points
• Third place - 5 points

a.) Bets are accepted for horse race meetings held under the rules of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) and Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) and are settled on the official result.

b.) Bets are accepted at the advertised special price. All odds are subject to fluctuation and bets placed will be settled at the price at the time the bet was confirmed.

c.) First Past the Post does not count for this market.

d.) Charity races and Arab races do not count for this market.

e.) If any race at the selected meeting finishes in a Dead Heat, the points awarded will be divided equally across each affected place.

Example: If a favourite is involved in a Dead Heat for first and second place, the points awarded will be 17.5 (half of 25 points for first place plus half of 10 points for second place).

f.) If any race at the selected meeting has only one runner (also known as a walk-over), all bets placed on this market will be awarded 25 points.;

g.) If joint or co-favourites are returned in any race at the selected meeting, the favourite will count as the horse with the lowest race card number.

h.) If the favourite is withdrawn from the race before coming under starter's orders, and a new market is not formed, the second favourite will count in this market.

i.) Where a market is offered for one meeting, if one or two races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting, all bets placed on this market will be awarded a default figure of 10 points for each abandoned or void race.

j.) If a market is offered for one meeting and three or more races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting, all bets placed on this market will be void unless the over selection in the market has been won.

• If three or more races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting and the over selection in the market has been won, bets placed on that selection in this market will have already won and will be settled as winners. Bets placed on other selections in this market will have already lost.
• If three or more races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting and the over selection in the market has not been won, bets placed on this market will be void.

k.) Where a market is offered for two or more meetings combined, a default figure of 10 points will be used for every abandoned or void race.

l.) If our Starting Price (SP) is returned, this will take precedence over any other declared SP and the favourite will be determined by the final show of betting.

m.) If no SP is returned, the favourite will be determined by the final show of betting transmitted by our service provider.

n.) Adjustments to settlement will not be made for amended results or adjudications made by governing bodies after the weigh-in when the official result is declared.

39. Meeting Aggregate Winner's Starting Price (SP) Market Rules

Predict the range that contains the combined SP total of winning horses at a specified meeting. The combined SP will be calculated by awarding points for the SP of each winning horse.

Example:

• 1/2 = 0.50 point
• 10/11 = 0.91 point
• Evs = 1.00 point
• 6/4 = 1.50 points
• 5/8 = 1.88 points
• 2/1 = 2 points
• 5/2 = 2.50 points
• 5/1 = 5.00 points
• 10/1 = 10.00 points
• 25/1 = 25.00 points

a.) Bets are accepted for horse race meetings held under the rules of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) and Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) and are settled on the official result.

b.) Bets are accepted at the advertised special price. All odds are subject to fluctuation and bets placed will be settled at the price at the time the bet was confirmed.

e.) If any race at the selected meeting finishes in a Dead Heat, the points awarded will be divided equally across each affected place.

Example: If two horses are involved in a Dead Heat for first and second place priced at 3/1 and 7/1, the points awarded will be 5.00 (half of 3.00 points plus half of 7.00 points).

f.) If any race at the selected meeting has only one runner (also known as a walk-over), all bets placed on this market will be awarded a default of 1.00 point.

g.) If one or two races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting, all bets placed on this market will be awarded a default points total, which is calculated by halving the number of declared runners at the time the race was abandoned or voided.

Example: A race with 10 declared runners will be awarded 5.00 points and a race with seven declared runners will be awarded 3.50 points etc.

h.) Where a market is offered for one meeting, if three or more races are abandoned or voided at the, all bets placed on this market will be void unless the over selection in the market has been won.

• If three or more races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting and the over selection in the market has been won, bets placed on that selection will have already won and will be settled as winners. Bets placed on other selections in this market will have already lost.
• If three or more races are abandoned or voided at the selected meeting and the over selection in the market has not been won, bets placed on this market will be void.

i.) Adjustments to settlement will not be made for amended results or adjudications made by governing bodies after the weigh-in when the official result is declared.

40. Any Number of Horses To Win

This bet is for a number of horses to win from a number of selections e.g. Any 2 horses from 3 horses to win. All selections must run for these bets to stand. If any named horses do not run, the bet is void.

41. Betting Without

In markets where we are "Betting Without" a nominated selection, the place terms will be based on the remaining number of runners excluding the nominated selection.

Any rule 4 deductions will still apply and be based on the price of the withdrawn runner in that market at the time of bet placement (please see rule 4 table).

"Betting Without" bets are settled ignoring the finishing position of the nominated "Without" runner. Where the nominated "Without" selection is withdrawn before the start of a race, all bets on any of the field in this market stand.

If 2 or fewer runners start the race, then bets will be void.

This market will be settled on the Official Result only.

42. Top 2/3/4 Finish

Predict a horse to finish in the first 2/3/4 places. In the event of a horse being withdrawn, not under starter’s orders, stakes on that selection will be returned. Bets for the remaining horses in the race will be subject to a deduction in accordance with the deduction table below based on the top 2/3/4 in the place only market of the withdrawn horse(s) at the time of bet placement. The number of places offered will not alter in the event of non-runners unless the number of runners is equal to or less than the number of places offered. In this event, all bets will be void. Standard Dead-Heat rules apply. This market will be settled on the Official Result only.

Total deductions will not exceed 95p in the £.

43. Money Back X Places

In these markets we offer a reduced price on your horse to win, but with the ‘Insurance’ that you receive your stake back if the horse does not win but finishes in the nominated place positions in the respective markets.  Bets are accepted ‘Win Only’ in these markets and Dead Heat rules apply.

These markets are offered based on standard place terms and in the event of any non-runners Rule 4 may apply based on the price of the non-runner(s) in the win and each way market at time of bet placement. Bets are settled on the Official result only.

a.) Money Back Two Places: If the selection that has been backed to win finishes second, stakes are returned on the bet. In the event of a Dead Heat, usual Dead Heat rules apply. 

b.) Money Back Three Places: If the selection that has been backed to win finishes second, stakes are returned on the bet. In the event of a Dead Heat, usual Dead Heat rules apply. 

44. Special Multiples

As well as being able to place multiple bets by combining selections from different races, it is also possible to bet on Special Multiples when this event is offered. The following rules apply:

• The Special Multiples involves a minimum of two specifically nominated horses to win their respective races (unless stated otherwise).
• The nominated horses must win their respective races, otherwise bets are settled as losers.
• Win only and Singles only bets are accepted.
• If any of the featured horses are non-runners, all bets will be settled on the remaining selections at Starting Price (SP) unless it was an ante post bet on an all-in run or not basis, then the bet will be a loser.
• If the nominated horse Dead Heats with another runner then bets on the nominated horse to win will be settled as winners at half the initial stake.

45. To Finish Xth (2nd/3rd/4th)

In these separate markets we offer a price for each selection to finish in exactly the position specified.  So for example, with the ‘To finish 2nd’ market you are betting on which horse in the field will finish in second position. Likewise with the ‘To Finish 3rd’ market you are betting on which horse in the field will finish in third position and so on.

These markets are offered based on standard place terms, so in the event of any non-runners, Rule 4 will not apply.  Bets are settled on the Official result only.

46. EW Extra place (1 additional place over standard terms)

In this market we offer one additional place above standard EW terms. This market is available on all UK horse races with five runners or more each day (not available on Irish races).

Odds are adjusted from Standard Win and EW (WEW) prices to account for the additional place offered.

The terms of the additional place market are determined by the Standard terms for that race, plus one extra place.

• Not offered in races that are ‘Win Only’ based on Standard terms
• Where WEW Standard terms =1/4 odds 2 places, the Additional Place market is offered at 1/4 odds 3 places
• Where WEW Standard terms =1/4 odds 3 places, the Additional Place market is offered at 1/4 odds 4 places
• WEW Day of Race =1/5th odds 3 places, the Additional Place market is offered at 1/5th odds 4 places
• WEW Day of Race =1/4 odds 4 places, the Additional Place market is offered at 1/4 odds 5 places.

The market remains available until the number of non-runners alters the Standard EW terms for that race, at which point it is withdrawn, but bets already struck remain open and stand.

If the number of runners in the race is reduced to the same or fewer than the number of places offered, then all bets in that specific market are void. 

Rule 4 applies to this market in the event of any non-runner(s) based on prices of those selections at the time of bet placement.  

If a race reduces to 3 or 4 runners (from 5 or more originally) then bets already taken in the EW Extra place market will be settled at 1/4 odds 2 places with an appropriate Rule 4 deduction applied based on the price of the non-runner(s) at the time of bet placement, if applicable.

47. Trotting

• All bets are settled according to the declared official result.
• No subsequent change to the result will affect the settlement of the race in question.
• All bets on Trotting are accepted at stated prices only - available on win only bets, place only bets and any other betting market.
• Multiple bets will be settled as standard accumulators.

a.) Win Only Bets: Win Only bets are available on all Trotting races displayed on our websites, Each Way bets are not available.

b.) Place Only Bets: Place Only bets are offered for the majority of Trotting races. However, the number of places available are affected by the number of runners. Our terms state:

• All races of 8 or more runners - 3 places.
• All races of 4, 5, 6 and 7 runners - 2 places.
• Races with less than 4 runners - Place betting will not be offered. If a race originally has 4 or more runners but there are enough non-runners to reduce the field to less than 4, all bets previously accepted as Place Only bets will be void and stakes returned.

c.) Daily Double: As well as being able to place multiple bets by combining selections from different races, it is also possible to bet on Daily Doubles when this event is offered.

The Daily Double involves two specifically nominated races each day. Returns for the Daily Double are based on its official returns and not on the multiplied returns of the two winners.

If there is a Dead Heat for first place in either or both of the Daily Double races, then all horses involved are considered to be winners of their race.

d.) Dead Heats: Dead Heat is a term that describes when two or more participants in an event are tied.

If a Dead Heat is declared on any event, half the stake is applied to the selection at full odds and the other half is lost. If more than two Dead Heats, the stake is proportioned accordingly.

e.) Win: If two or more horses Dead Heat for first place, then both horses are winners.

f.) Place: The following rules apply for Dead Heat places:

• Two horses Dead Heat for 1st - fill two places
• Three horses Dead Heat for 1st - fill three places
• Two horses Dead Heat for 2nd - fill second and third places
• Three horses Dead Heat for 2nd - fill second, third and fourth places.

g.) Non-Runners: In the event of a non-runner, the odds on the remaining runners are reduced in accordance with Tattersalls Rule 4 (c) as outlined below.

All bets on a horse declared a non-runner are void and stakes will be refunded. Any bets on the Daily Double are void if either horse included in the bet is a non-runner.

48. Horse Racing Tote Rules (Bets placed on UK Tote Pool)

Tote Win

Aim of the bet

To select the winning horse.

Races on which pool is operated

The Tote Win pool is operated on all races of 2 or more runners unless otherwise stated.

No finishers

If the official result is that there are no finishers, the pool will be declared void and all stakes refunded.

Dead-heats

When two or more horses dead-heat for first place, the net pool will be divided into as many equal parts as there are dead-heating runners. The part of the net pool allocated to each dead-heating horse is divided by the total stakes on that runner to obtain a calculated dividend for each deadheating horse. The calculated dividend is then determined in accordance with the calculation of dividends above.

Tote Place

Aim of the bet

To select a horse to finish placed.

The finishing positions which constitute a place in any race, unless otherwise stated, are as follows: 5 - 7 runners 1st & 2nd 8 - 15 runners 1st, 2nd & 3rd Non-handicap of 16 or more runners 1st, 2nd & 3rd Handicap of 16 or more runners 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th.

Races on which the pool is operated

The Tote Place pool is operated on all races of five or more runners unless otherwise stated.

Un-named Favourite Bets

Bets on the un-named favourite are not accepted in the Tote Place pool.

Non-runners

Bets 'stand' on horses which do not compete after coming under starter's orders. Bets are void on horses which become non-runners before coming under starter's orders, and the stakes on such non-runners are refundable.

Void/Abandoned Races/Meetings

If the race is void or abandoned and is not re-ran on the same day, the pool will be declared void and all stakes refunded, unless otherwise stated. This is irrespective of whether the race is re-scheduled for a later date or not.

Reduced field size

If the number of runners in any race falls below 5, then the pool will be declared void and all stakes refunded.

Insufficient finishers

If the official number of finishers is fewer than the number of standard places in any leg, then only the runners which finish will be deemed to have been placed. The net pool will be divided by the number of finishers rather than being divided by the number of places that were originally payable on the race.

Dead-heats

If two or more horses dead-heat for the final position which constitutes a place, a dividend is paid on each of those dead-heating horses. The amount of the pool allocated to that place is divided equally between the dead-heating horses.

Un-named Favourite Bets

Bets on the un-named favourite are not accepted in the Tote Swinger pool.

Non-runners

Bets 'stand' on horses which do not compete after coming under starter's orders. Bets are void on horses which become non-runners before coming under starter's orders, and the stakes on such non-runners are refundable.

Void/Abandoned Races/Meetings

If the race is void or abandoned and is not re-ran on the same day, the pool will be declared void and all stakes refunded, unless otherwise stated. This is irrespective of whether the race is re-scheduled for a later date or not.

Reduced field size

If the number of runners in any race is reduced to 4 or 5, a dividend will only be paid in respect of the first and second placed horses in either order. If the number of runners in any race falls below 4, the pool will be declared void and all stakes refunded.

Insufficient finishers

If only 2 horses officially finish the race, a dividend will only be declared on the first and second in either order. If this combination has not been backed then the pool will be carried forward to another race as decided by Tote.

If only 1 horse officially finishes the race, a dividend will be declared on that horse with any other. This will be the only dividend declared. If that winning horse has not been included within any of the combinations backed, then the pool will be carried forward to another race as decided by Tote.

Dead-heats

In the case of 6 or more runners:

Where 2 horses dead-heat for 1st place, the winning combinations will be any 2 of the first 3 finishers.

Where 3 horses dead-heat for 1st place, the winning combinations will be any 2 of the first 3 finishers.

Where 2 horses dead-heat for 2nd place, the winning combinations will be any 2 of the first 3 finishers.

Where 3 horses dead-heat for 2nd place, the winning combinations will be 1st with any one of the dead-heating runners; and any 2 of the 3 deadheating runners.

Where 2 horses dead-heat for 3rd place, the winning combinations will be 1st and 2nd; 1st with either of the dead-heating runners; and 2nd with either of the dead-heating runners.

Where 3 horses dead-heat for 3rd place, the winning combinations will be 1st and 2nd; 1st with any one of the dead-heating runners; and 2nd with any one of the dead-heating runners.

Where 2 horses dead-heat for 1st place and 2 horses dead-heat for 3rd place, the winning combinations will be the two runners which dead-heated for first; and either runner which dead-heated for 1st with either runner which dead-heated for 3rd.

In the case of only 4 or 5 runners:

Where 2 horses dead-heat for 1st place, the winning combination will be those two runners.

Where 3 horses dead-heat for 1st place, the winning combinations will be any 2 of those 3 runners.

Where 2 or more horses dead-heat for 2nd place, the winning combinations will be 1st with any one of the dead-heating runners.

If there is a two-way dead-heat for 1st place, then there will still be only one dividend payable for selecting the first two finishers. If there is a deadheat for 2nd place or a dead-heat involving 3 or more horses for 1st place, the dividend will be calculated by apportioning the net pool in equal parts for each winning combination.

Aim of the bet

To select the first two finishers in either order.

Un-named Favourite Bets

Bets on the un-named favourite are not accepted in the totequinella pool.

Tote Trifecta

Aim of the bet

To select the winner, the second and the third horse in the correct order.  It is Tote’s version of the tricast bet.

Un-named Favourite Bets

Bets on the un-named favourite are not accepted in the totetrifecta pool.

If there are no starting prices returned, the first runner quoted in the Racing Post betting forecast will be substituted. If there is no betting forecast and hence no substitute horse can be determined in accordance with any specific rules then the runner with the highest number of Tote Win pool units in the relevant race will be substituted. If two or more runners have an equal number of Tote Win pool units then the one with the lowest racecard number will substitute. If no Tote Win pool is operated then the lowest racecard number will substitute.

Walkovers/Void Races/Meetings

If either leg of the Tote Double is a walkover, or is void, or is abandoned, or there is no official result declared for any reason, and is not re-ran on the same day, then the pool will be settled on the remaining leg, i.e. every selection in that leg is deemed to have been successful, provided the other leg of the bet takes place.

If neither of the legs of the Tote Double take place, the pool will be declared void and all stakes refunded.

Provided at least one leg takes place, a dividend will be declared, subject to Tote rules.

Multiple selections, bankers and permutations

Permutations are permitted. To calculate the number of permutations, customers should multiply together the number of selections in each leg.

Insufficient finishers

If in either leg the official result is that there are no finishers, the pool will be settled on the remaining leg, i.e. every selection is deemed to have been successful.

Dead-heats

In the event of a dead-heat for first place in either leg of the bet, all such dead-heating horses are considered to be full winners in that race.

Tote Treble

Aim of the bet

To select the winning horse in each of 3 specific races at the same meeting as nominated by Tote.

Dead-heats

Tote Placepot and Placepot 7

Aim of the bet

To select a horse to be placed in each of the nominated races. The standard Tote Placepot will typically involve the first six races of each meeting and the Tote Placepot 7 and ITV7 Placepot will involve selected races across various meetings each day.

The finishing positions which constitute a place in any leg, unless otherwise stated, are as follows:

2 - 4 runners 1st

5 - 7 runners 1st & 2nd

8 - 15 runners 1st, 2nd & 3rd

Non-handicap of 16 or more runners 1st, 2nd & 3rd

Handicap of 16 or more runners 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th

The finishing positions which constitute a place in any race at the 2020 Royal Ascot meeting, which takes place between Tuesday 16th June and Saturday 20th June, are as follows 2 - 3 runners 1st

4 - 6 runners 1st & 2nd

7 or more runners regardless of whether the race is a handicap 1st, 2nd & 3rd See further applicable rules in relation to non-runners in the World Pool appendix at the bottom of this document.

Meetings on which pool is operated

The standard Tote Placepot on the first six races at a meeting is operated on all British meetings and selected overseas meetings unless otherwise stated.

Cross-meeting placepots may also be made available. These placepots follow the same rules as the standard placepot, but the races may be selected from more than one race meeting, and the number of legs in the bet may exceed 6.

When a placepot has more than six legs, as is the case with the Placepot 7 and ITV7 Placepot, to win the bet the player must select a placed horse in every leg.

In the event of a dead-heat for any position which constitutes a place in any leg of the bet, all such dead-heating horses are considered to be fully placed in that race.

Tote Jackpot

Aim of the bet

To select the winning horse in each of six races across one or more meetings as nominated by Tote. One Tote Jackpot pool will operate each day, unless otherwise stated.

Un-named Favourite Bets
